What should I say to visitors who ask: Why should
I care? How does this all effect me? That was a good
question. There is a lot of
difference between state and federal control, Wilderness designations
and Wild and Scenic Rivers that involve a lot of explaining. Private
property rights are at the forefront of our opposition. If you live
here then you would know that this is a very unified community on this
subject, but to the rest of the USA and the current stream of
visitors: The park will be here but you wont. You already know that
the few remaining campgrounds are full, (reservations needed) expensive
and
limited lodging, little RV space, trails
have disappeared, roads closed off and many areas are now almost
inaccessible. (Col. Bob trail was closed 5 years). You might even need
one of
a variety of permits to park in this area
or to use facilities. Wild Olympics means activities will be
further
curtailed. And you will blame the people here as you leave. This
is all because this Wild Olympics plan has/is being implemented step
by step until we might not know the difference anymore. The dual status
of UN World Heritage Park and Biosphere practically guarantee that this
entire area is slated to eliminate human activity if to be believed and
enforced! The Agenda 21 plan, now Agenda 2030; continues to
implement
sustainable development and creating vast
swaths of nature corridors. This is to save the planet. THE FISH AND
THE
PLANET. Well, thats what they are saying......
Here is a map showing the additions
These are our recreation lands in both park and state that will
be
taken
away. The Quinault Ridge and Metheny units are essential for visitors
and this areas economy and vitality. We refuse to surrender it for some
Puget Sound inspired ideal. We are not a chip to be played because they
continue to pollute themselves and dominate politics according to their
whims and interests. The rest of the state is fed up with it. Overhead,
we suffer from geo-engineering experiments and increased electronic
warfare training. Please go do it somewheres else! This is pristine
land; As
clean and untrammeled as anywheres on earth. It has been kept that way
because the Quinault people living here demanded it and kept them
all away PERIOD. Now they see Quinault as a prize, and the players
eagerly
earn a golden feather(ston)....pun_ ) in their cap.
We are under
attack and it is being done by a
collusion of
NGO
private/public
partnerships with an agenda for PROFIT and using our tax dollars to do
it while
our infrastructure crumbles. Did you ever wonder why the TRIBES
(the
Tribal Corporation) have become an economic powerhouse? With such a
small % of the population? They have been given rights and business
opportunities not available to citizens. This has established a conduit
of political contributions to 1 political party. When taxes are paid we
all will
benefit. When a piece of property is exempted from the tax, then the
rest
have to make up the difference and that is the huge problem that is
knawing away at our prosperity. Save the fish is the
mantra/designation being used but in truth it always was and still is
overfishing that is first and foremost the culprit. Habitat is easy to
blame as ours was (intentionally.... is disputed) wrecked. It does
provide
a good superficial reason to demand more control and Wild and Scenic
Rivers does
that plus gives them the ability to take adjoining land in the process.
This will never be admitted in any WO literature.
Once
under federal control, Congress can build a pipeline to California, it
wont be our water. This Wild Olympics plan is pushed by just 1
political party.
The Other Partners
contributing directly are the conservation
groups that in addition to avoiding property taxes, are milking
this
grant system (paid by taxes) to improve their properties' value and
avoid costly management expenses. Sweet deal. Their plan is to
eventually
sell the land back the the govt. as was recently done here on
North Shore where one property (a resort business) was quickly re-sold
to the
park for
1.5 million (a .3 million profit for the group). Then the ONP
spent
thousands destroying all trace of the buildings (that contributed
$5000/yr in property taxes alone to county services). What is not so
sweet
is that these grants and restoration programs are basing their methods
on eradication of plants they deem harmful with total reliance on
chemical methods using glyphosate (round-up) herbicide. Our concern is
that it may poison the entire eco-system with unforeseen and
incalculable results (and they will blame us and our septic
systems). The
scientists internally know this is not a fix but it is expedient and it
brings in large sums and only needing a few well paid
employees. It is a cash cow. The Washington State Salmon Recovery
Program has been
set up as a fraudulent cash cow
for all these organizations to vie for
the funds. (and we still have a local hazardous barricaded 1-lane
bridge for the 4th year).
The scientists have
their game going as Lead Entities
helping
these grantors get their their grants and these grantors in turn donate
and help support the larger RIVER/FISH/ENVIRONMENT projects. The river
project here is a good example where about 10 million has been spent in
the last 7 years and no end in sight if they are turned loose to
relocate roads and bridges and dream of floodplains and total
reforestation. One problem that has been uncovered is that of
incongruities
(false/negligence) in
data and its interpretations (covering up the Finley disaster). We are
still waiting for an answer. We are in their way and make them
uncomfortable attending their public forums and asking questions. To
complicate matters the TRIBE (Tribal Corporation) is involved as Lead
Entity and now attempting to purchase properties within and adjoining
the project areas. Tax dollars will be used as well as funds from
a variety of lawsuits that will also be paid by tax dollars. It is call
sue and settle. Citizens here or anywhere cannot compete. We have
no legal recourse due to tribal immunity. They
can simply choose not to respond.
So, what we have are politicians in conjunction with a
soverign
tribal nation, all done
within a 1 party conduit;
dominating the narrative and handing these groups millions and
my house is in the way and my garden uses water and hosts non-native
plants and my neighbors have farm animals and there is wood smoke.
Attempts have already been made to curtail all 4 activities. The
depopulation of the rural areas is the long term goal while the entire
Olympic peninsula becomes park. Our voice is just a red sign
and a page on
the internet.
It began with education:Coming soon is the brilliant Tracy Horn
research .... or not....
If not, Then what it did clearly indicate was that the poverty and lack
of jobs of all these timber struck communities following the spotted
owl closures to current conditions was translated into poverty first,
accompanied with alcoholism, drug
and the social
problems in the all communities surrounding ONP and became visible in
the schools. Every one of them.
..... now that it is going to be
raining i can finally attend to this
dirty business.
and the story continues......
This photo shows the
original 1895 survey. The light blue is where the river is today
The Cover-up
They have written and
published a Finley Exective Summary a year ago
and it has yet to be presented. Do they dare to? They know I know it is
wrong. I told the whole community in a public forum. The doc. is false
and covers up
the Finley mess. They heard a lot of disgruntled responses when they
confirmed this fact. I brought the map above and was dismayed to learn
that they did not bring any material of reference that i could ask a
specific question about. What kind of Q&A meeting is this anyways?
The 4 photos of the early Finley are from their own material. (i have
asked for originals for clarity) Now
everythng is produced over the GIS and this new Finley washout is very
aparent as it is new and not
"historical" in any relevant context. It
is a washout and not using the historic channels. In this summary you
will
discover that the word "historical" when relating to the eatern fan in
this doc. also means... since the last
ice age! The word gets tossed back and forth and it is
deceptive. The
point bar that was established
in our wetland is proof and is now
buried under reclaimed silt and engineered logjams (ELJ). They will
claim the river change is all due to erosion from the river or the word
they use: avulsion.
All
we want to know is why there is all this crap
We believe this project is a good thing and the best viable
method for restoration. WE have no other choice.
WE are in their way: as there is
no other answer.
They might not want an
authentic restoration and would rather steal the valley as the river
makes an end run,
while the park
boundary follows across the valley floor

"As
of April 2012 over 100 acres of unique habitat have been lost to
erosion by the Quinault River. This property was an irreplaceable
ecosystem, made up of wetland habitat criss-crossed with creeks,
pools and alder bottoms. The erosion also completely destroyed over a
half-mile of Merriman Creek, one of the two prime sockeye spawning
streams (as identified by the Quinault Tribe) on the Upper Quinault
River. This destruction has been a direct result of the negligence of
Olympic National Park."
